(SNL) Saturday Night Live: What happened last night?

I watched SNL last night, hosted by Paul Rudd, with Beyonce performing, and I found the show to just not be funny for most of the show. What happened? The first three skits were just crass, and were more uncomfortable and tasteless than funny. It felt like they were going in a comedic direction of some of the newer comedies and it failed.

Beyonce’s first performance was really good, and I probably would have enjoyed it more, but I was still numb from the skits.

The only thing that was funny was Justin Timberlake on weekend update. Now, I really like the Weekend Update segment. It is pretty much the only segment on SNL that packs so many laughs into a short period of time. Seth Meyer’s performance last night felt blah. The redoing of the joke of guy robbing a store with no arms was just below their usual quality. The fourth run of the joke “he was unarmed”, was delivered at a time of “yeah thanks, but the joke was over by the second version of it.”.

Seriously, was Lorne Michael’s sleeping, on vacation, locked up in his office? What happened. My girlfriend asked me the turn off the TV after she had enough, and you know what, I agreed. I hope next week will be better. I hope they can do some better stuff now that the elections are over.

2moons is a free to play mmo rpg that is very similar to World of Warcraft. Pretty good game so far.

I’m sure I will put up more information here about it soon.

Information for those who need more information in Florida

I came across this website http://www.votesmartflorida.org that provides more information about the various amendments up for this election.

My Election Experience Update

It’s Monday and the election is tomorrow. I still need to review all the amendments on the ballot and the candidates for the other races. I’m finding that getting information on amendments is a little tricky and requires some more digging.

I wanted to note that in terms of McCain and Obama representatives that solicit for your vote, I’ve gotten the following results:

Obama:

  • 1 person who has come up to me personally asking for my support of Obama. This was an Obama volunteer.
  • 1 door hanger left on my door.
  • 4 phone calls for Obama, one from George Lopez.
  • No emails.

McCain:

  • No one has come to my house. No one has called. No emails about it.

Palin for 2012:

  • No one has come to my house. No one has called. No emails about it. She may be waiting for after Tuesday to start.

FYI, I registered independent. I did the true maverick move. Here’s why. I’m not too crazy about either party, but I tend to lean more towards the Democratic side. I tend to find Republicans cater more towards corporate greed and Democratics don’t have enough of a push to get things done at times. I prefer the avenue of “the best person for the job, no party bias”.

Getting this many Obama responses from the campaign, especially for my neighbor is not all that surprising. I live in a highly populated minority area, that’s low to middle class. The more surprising part is that lack of McCain representation. I’m not seeing it… at all.

Did ColdPlay rip off other artists to make “Viva La Vida”

I came across this article at Jamsbio about how Viva La Vida looks like they ripped their song from Creaky Boards song “The songs I didn’t write”.

They are similar in so many ways.

  • The structure of the signing
  • The choice of instruments
  • The melodies.

Here’s the kicker, the Creaky Boards song was released the year before.
Comparison of “Viva La Vida” and “The Songs I Didn’t Write”

Now I found some videos on youtube that show the similarities between the two songs, but then I stumbled on some more videos where the riff sounds like someone else’s song. Omgosh! Joe Satriani wrote a song called “If I could fly”

Comparison of “Viva La Vida” and “If I Could Fly”

No matter what, I love “Viva La Vida”, and I’m really digging the other songs too. I say, mash them all up!!! I dare someone to do it. Cmon, somebody. If you don’t I will =)

Hulk Hogan’s Celebrity Championship Wrestling…. WHAT???

You know when you channel surf looking for something different and come across something with a weird or different title? Well that has happened to me tonight. Hulk Hogan’s Celebrity Championship Wrestling

Hulk Hogan has taken 10 celebrities, that include Frank Stallone (Sly’s brother), Dennis Rodman, Danny Bonaduce, Butterbean, Tiffany (the singer from the 80s), Screech, Tabitha from the original Bewitched and others, and will teach them to wrestle. Assisting Hogan will be Jimmy Hart “The Mouth of the South”, Erik Bishoff, Brutus Beefcake and Brian Knobs.

Man, this is like one of those sick dreams that you get from watching too much tv and think “well what about this for a tv show”, then you quickly dismiss it because it’s bad, then it happens. Just plain craziness.

Wow stupid and ignorant people exist!

Just wow.

New Windows O/S coming out, it will be called…. Windows 7

Ladies and gentlemen, Microsoft is releasing a new version of their operating system. A follow up to Vista. It’ll slice, it’ll dice, it’ll…. okay, maybe not all that, but it will be called… Windows 7! That’s right, it’s called Windows 7. Not Windows XP Senior, not Windows Viva la Vista, not Windows 2012; simply Windows 7. Microsoft decided to drop the special names and date name scheme because they felt it just didn’t work anymore, and I agree. As noted in the article, the date naming didn’t match the release time, similar to Madden games being dated 1 year ahead, based on stats 1 year behind; bad EA. And they also said they didn’t want to come up with the “aspirational” name either. I agree with this move as well. It’s easier for people to deal with just a number associated to a software. It’s bad enough you have multiple versions of the OS that don’t really stand out that well at the end of the name like Vista Home Basic, Vista Home Premium, Vista Home Ultimate, Vista Business, Vista yada yada. It’s just frustrating. A number tells the story better and in fewer words, “You need this version of better”.

The new OS will improve upon Vista, and will be available to devs in beta version soon. Honestly, I think Microsoft needs to slow down on all these releases. I’ve been using Vista for just about 18 months. These turn around cycles don’t allow for sufficient time to work out the kinks properly and to include the features that people want if you don’t allow for proper feedback. Vista has probably one of the worst releases of any Microsoft OS due to the number of issues with stability and support at launch time. Most of the issues have been resolved, but I still have some issues with my OS running a 64 bit platform. Stabilize the OS before you go off and work on something new, because if you haven’t fixed your current OS by the time you work on the new one, aren’t you carrying over the issues and bugs I’m experiencing?

I’m sure the motiviation for this is money, and to help push the transition to the new platform for all the businesses who said no to Vista. Look, if you get it working better, you will see the move.

Blah, I’m done on this topic. Time to go back to my command line interface on linux.

Ba-Rick Roll Baby!

I just had to post this.
